Marina Abramović comes back to blockchain after a break to team up with digital marketplace TAEX and start a fresh NFT creative series. Through the MAE project, Allen and Abramović Element will deliver three NFT releases that let collectors discover/discover their NFT collections through different modes of interaction.
In 2021 Abramović introduced her NFT work with The Hero which represented her 2001 artwork digitally. She launched a Web3 project in May 2024 that will last through September 2025 based on her original fictional plot. The NFT releases will present different parts of her artistic life through digital artwork combined with interactive activities.
MAE Collection Unfolds in Three Stages
The MAE collection presents itself in three distinguished stages through distinct artistic subjects. During the first drop of art, the collection will study the meaning behind Abramović’s creative symbols and deep characters from her performances throughout the years. Life will demonstrate how Abramović presented her body locations, gestures and clothes as artistic techniques in her works. The Marina Abramović Method drop will reveal her self-discovery techniques by drawing from her Institute which started in 2023.
Each NFT release series will exist in several forms of materials alongside special rare editions. Top-tier NFTs called Rare show rotated images instead of static ones. Affectionately called Epic NFTs these digital items exist as looping animations that come alive at the same time as the moon cycles in the sky.
Apart from the NFT releases the project will create an interactive aspect with transformational Crystals to be earned through special games. The third drop will include Counting Crystals with Maze as its support game. Players who earn Transformational Crystals can buy unique NFT collections that improve their overall digital collection experience.
The Great Mint event will appear in November 2025 as a final stage to let collectors activate their last MAE token. A digital artwork with Abramović performing her well-known pieces appears in the form of an NFT video. The MAE token program has entry criteria that require users to collect various NFT items from earlier drops including three Epic NFTs plus a Transformation Crystal or three Rare NFTs and one Transformation Crystal during previous releases.
Through shared digital art, gaming, and blockchain technology, Abramović creates new ways for audiences to interact with her work. The MAE project opens new paths in digital art creation for NFTs by introducing exciting features to audiences.
